Product Overview

The ELEGOO OrangeStorm Giga is a large-format, industrial-grade FDM 3D printer designed for producing exceptionally large models, prototypes, components, and functional parts. With an expansive 800 × 800 × 1000 mm build volume, the OrangeStorm Giga can accommodate projects that may otherwise need to be divided into multiple smaller sections.

Its large build area, high-speed printing capability, four-nozzle configuration, independently heated PEI platform sections, automatic calibration features, and robust mechanical design make it suitable for professional prototyping, architecture, product development, industrial design, education, and manufacturing applications.

The OrangeStorm Giga is designed for users who require a large working area while maintaining control over print quality, production efficiency, and material flexibility.

What to Know

  • The OrangeStorm Giga is a large-format FDM 3D printer.
  • The printer has an 800 × 800 × 1000 mm build volume.
  • The print head can reach temperatures up to 300°C.
  • The heated platform consists of four independently controlled PEI sections.
  • The printer supports simultaneous operation of four nozzles.
  • Filament is not included unless specifically listed with the product.
  • Actual print performance depends on material, model geometry, layer height, temperature, speed, and other slicing settings.
  • Installation, setup, calibration, and operating requirements should be followed according to the included ELEGOO documentation.

What to Know Before You Use

  • Place the printer on a stable, level surface capable of supporting its size and weight.
  • Ensure adequate clearance around the printer for ventilation, maintenance, and movement of components.
  • Inspect the print head, build platform, cables, fasteners, and mechanical components before operation.
  • Complete the recommended leveling and calibration procedures before starting a print.
  • Confirm that the selected filament is compatible with the printer's temperature and material requirements.
  • Keep the build surface clean and properly prepared before printing.
  • Use appropriate ventilation and follow material-specific safety recommendations when printing.
  • Do not touch the heated print head or build platform while they are hot.
  • Keep hands, clothing, tools, and other objects away from moving components during operation.
  • Use the appropriate slicer settings for the selected material and print configuration.
  • Allow printed parts and heated components to cool sufficiently before removal or maintenance.

Key Features & Why It Matters

800 × 800 × 1000 mm Build Volume

The large working area provides substantial room for oversized prototypes, architectural models, industrial components, and other large-format projects. It can reduce the need to divide a large design into multiple smaller pieces.

Four-Zone Heated PEI Platform

The build platform uses four independent 410 × 410 mm PEI tiles. The platform can be heated uniformly to 100°C in approximately 17 minutes, according to the provided specifications.

The independent heating design also allows the printer to heat the active portion of the platform rather than necessarily heating the entire surface for every print.

High-Speed Printing

The OrangeStorm Giga supports a maximum print speed of up to 300 mm/s, with a recommended printing speed of 150 mm/s. Actual printing speed depends on the selected material, model, layer settings, and print configuration.

Four-Nozzle Printing

The printer supports printing with four nozzles simultaneously. This allows users to produce multiple copies in one cycle or use different filament colors or materials within supported configurations.

64-Bit Quad-Core Processing

A 64-bit quad-core processor provides the processing capability needed to manage the printer's high-speed motion and large-format printing operations.

Advanced Motion System

Linear guides on the X and Y axes support controlled print-head movement, while the Z-axis guiding mechanism is designed for smooth and precise vertical movement.

High-Temperature Print Head

The print head can reach temperatures up to 300°C, supporting a range of commonly used 3D printing materials, including PLA, PETG, TPU, and Nylon, subject to the manufacturer's recommended settings and material requirements.

60W Ceramic Heater

The print head incorporates a 60W ceramic heating element designed to provide controlled heating for material extrusion.

Automatic Calibration Functions

PID calibration and automatic resonance compensation are designed to help maintain stable printing behavior and improve motion and extrusion consistency.

Active Cooling System

Cooling fans positioned on both sides of the printer chassis help manage heat during operation. Intelligent fan control can reduce cooling activity after printing is completed.

Stable Structural Design

A steel base, non-slip feet, and reinforced mechanical components help provide a stable foundation for large-format printing.

Sensors, Modules & Capabilities

Filament Break Detection

Two filament break detectors monitor filament availability and can help identify interruptions in filament feeding.

Four-Nozzle System

The four-nozzle configuration supports simultaneous printing workflows and can provide greater flexibility for multi-color or multi-material projects.

Heated Build Platform

Four independently controlled PEI platform sections provide the heated printing surface needed for large-format FDM printing.

Print Head

The high-temperature print head supports temperatures up to 300°C and incorporates a 60W ceramic heater and chrome-zirconium copper nozzle.

Automatic Leveling and Calibration

The OrangeStorm Giga includes leveling and calibration components designed to assist with preparing the build platform for printing.

Cooling System

Dual-side chassis cooling fans help manage operating temperatures and can be controlled according to printer operating conditions.

Display Screen

The integrated screen provides the user interface for controlling and monitoring printer functions.

Motion Control

The printer uses guided X, Y, and Z-axis movement systems to control print-head and platform positioning.
